Or that's what many photographers, painters, and other varieties of "artists" that we have talked to have been implying.  The stand-alone argument anyone ever gives us when they learn that I will be attending any and all photo shoots is:

"You wouldn't bring your husband to work with you at a normal job.  It's unprofessional."

The thing they fail to understand is that this isn't a normal job.  She doesn't work 9-5 in a cubicle.  They are not her boss.  If they are paying her to model they are technically her client.  They have no say in anything short of how they want her to pose.  She can bring any number of assistants, managers, or husbands that she feels like.

Unprofessional is greasy, old men paying a young woman to remove her clothes while they take pictures and demand that no one accompanies her.

I really dislike "artists".  It is typically men who fall into this category, and they're all self-absorbed assholes.  No surprises there, I guess.
